Kinder Dance Knoxville "Education Through Dance"
Kinderdance Movement programs all develop gross motor skills, movement creativity, physical development and body awareness, while learning, numbers, colors shapes, and songs. We also would work with social skills, physical fitness and begin teaching words that include the months of the year and movement words. The only difference between children without any major special needs from those who do have them might be your pace of the curriculum given.
Our basic structure of class and teaching method does not really change. Our philosophy is that all children are compared with themselves and not compared to children in another class. We teach individuals. At the end of the year we have a progress report that shows what the children have mastered."

Enriching the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities through dance! Through special classes that utilize repetition and patient modeling of movements, people with mental disabilities are taught choreographed routines. We currently have classes operating in the Bearden area of Knoxville, Fountain City, Powell, Jefferson City, and Harrogate. In addition, more classes are about to start in Oak Ridge, Maryville and Jamestown, and possibly in the Karnes area.
Therapeutic benefits include increased self-esteem, improved social skills, improved muscle coordination, controlling weight, learning to follow instructions, and expansion of communication skills. Public performances help the dancers gain confidence and increase their self-esteem, while at the same time raising the public’s awareness of the beautiful gifts these individuals bring to our society.

This is the info on the special needs martial arts class.
International Sanjuriu is opening a studio here in Oak Ridge in Grove Center which is about 15 minutes from Lovell Road (center point park) area.
They should be open in 4-6 weeks. If they have to do additional work they will be open in 8 weeks.
They have done martial arts classes at Tennessee School for the Deaf and have also held classes for some wheelchair bound folks. They are very interested in developing a special needs class
that is small, effective, and affordable for children of all abilities.
They aren't sure of the costs yet to keep the lights on and the rent paid. In the past, David said no one has paid more than $20/week for access to all classes at all times.
